in the heart of the Heidelberg old town

We offer price-conscious travellers or backpackers an accommodation in our hostel for only € 16, in the very center of the old town. All important sights are in walking distance from here - the castle, the old bridge, the old university and even the famous street with all the nightlife "Untere Strasse" is like 200m from here. 

Our house can look back to some history, August von Goethe ( Son of Goethe ) stayed here more than a year when studiing in Heidelberg.

The Sudpfanne is a traditional Heidelberg - restaurant in the romantic old town, towards the end of the main street only a few steps from the central market square and the old bridge.

Our kitchen offers a menu with some of the best regional dishes, as well as daily changing international meals.

The excellent quality of the meals and the low prices are probably the reason for the high number of local guests and the always increasing volume of regular customers. Lately the Sudpfanne has become a favorite meeting place for old-towners, students and artists.

Thanks to our cooperation with the Wein-Refugium we are able to offer our guests a special selection of some of the best regional wines.

All guests are very welcome in the Sudpfanne. No matter if they only want to have a drink or prefer to taste our delicious meals. In the summer our “beergarden” is the ideal place for both. Come to enjoy a cool beer in a picturesque back yard with a charming atmosphere, fitting around 60 customers.

An interesting relic from the elder times is our bar in the shape of a “Sudpfanne“ (a device that is used by beer-brewers for the production of beer) which also gave our restaurant its name. At the bar you can enjoy our draft bavarian Hacker Pschorr or Bit Burger.
